It is so close to us. So natural. Without it, we no longer live. It is the #breath. But how many times are we aware of it during the day? It is so easy to be caught up in the undertakings of the day: work, family, social commitments etc. Many things happen in our day-to-day life that demand our attention; it is easy to feel stressed, burned out, overworked, run down. What if there was a way to take care of all our duties and commitments in a way that would instantly energise us and lead us to feel more joy, peacefulness, and ease in daily life? There is.
Breathe
To be more specific, recognize that you are breathing. Become consciously aware of your breathing process. Take the time to become aware of your breath. A kind of meditation, the science of breath awareness is an ancient one that is explored in many spiritual traditions. It is designed to make us aware of our inner being. And, here's some really great news about it; it is simple, immediate, and available to us right now, anytime and anyplace needed. All that is required is a little practice. Let's begin.
#Exercise: Conscious Breathing Meditation
Duration: A few minutes
Find a quiet place. Turn off the phone, TV, tablet.
Sit comfortably with your back gently upright, and close your eyes.
Now gently turn your awareness to your breath. Don't try to control it. Just observe it as it is.
Sit quietly and watch with your mind the breath come in and the breath go out.
It is normal for the mind to wander. When this happens, gently bring your focus back to your breath. Watch as the breath comes in and the breath goes out. Try this for few minutes initially. See if you can make it a daily practice. Later, share what you notice.
